A First Look—Pro’s & Con’s
Pro’s to doing A First Look:
You will have that Intimate Moment together right before you become husband & wife— this will be a moment between the two of you that you will cherish forever. You will have that moment where you soon-to-be husband will be able to see you for the first time in your wedding dress & all glammed up. It is a moment to soak it all in, feel the emotions, & give your partner a precious hug and kiss before you two become one!
Not only will you get to feel this intimate moment together, but your photographer will be able to capture this special moment of the two of you— Doing a first look gives you the opportunity for much more photographs together as bride & groom that you would not necessarily get if you don’t do a first look. Plus, the photographs that are captured of your Groom’s reaction to seeing you as his bride are so special.
You’ll be able to take ALL photos prior to Ceremony, which means that you can dance the night away & enjoy being a newlywed after your ceremony & at your reception— yes, this includes all wedding party and family portraits will be done before you walk down the aisle. You won’t have to worry about taking any pictures right after the ceremony, and you won’t have to round all your family members up to get their picture taken.
Another Pro, typically, seeing each other before the ceremony really helps calm a bunch of nerves the two of you will probably have on wedding day— seeing each other privately, without anyone else around will help the two of you just relax, and get all the nervousness out before the ceremony. Like I said before, A First Look just opens the door for having such an intimate, and memorable moment together!
Lastly, a Pro that I know all the brides will love to know— Doing a first look ensures that you will have photos with your Husband, with all of your Hair and Makeup as fresh as can be! Whereas, if you wait to see each other when you walk down the aisle or for pictures after the ceremony, your hair & makeup will have been on for the whole day and will not be new.
Con’s to doing A First Look:
Your guests won’t get to see the “First Look Moment”— if you do a first look, your guests & loved ones more than likely will not get to witness the first time you see each other.
Walking down the aisle won’t be the first time you see each other all dressed up— you will have already seen each other prior to the ceremony.
If you DON’T do a First Look— the majority of all the pictures will have to be taken after the ceremony, which cuts into a lot of your reception time as well. You will have to take the whole wedding party, family, and bride & groom portraits after the Ceremony.
The last Con of doing a First Look is that you will more than likely have to start Hair & Makeup earlier the morning of wedding day—unless you have a later Ceremony time. Since all photos will be taken prior to ceremony, this means that photos will begin earlier on in the day & will probably last the majority of the day up until the ceremony.
We hope this helps you with deciding whether or not to do a First Look on your wedding day! Whether you choose to do a First Look or not, your wedding day will be filled with so many special moments that you will cherish forever as husband & wife!
